The Saudi Vision 2030 is actively participating in a significant political event in New York, demonstrating its commitment to the United Nations’s Sustainable Development Goals. The event, which commenced on July 8, is taking place at the UN headquarters in New York City and will continue until July 18. The initiative is utilizing its involvement in the UN’s High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development to emphasize the strides being made to enhance the quality of life in the Kingdom, aligning with Vision 2030.

A session titled “From Vision to Impact: Integrations for Achieving Sustainable Social and Environmental Change” was held to raise awareness about Vision 2030 and its role in sustainable development efforts. Discussions focused on urban challenges, advanced data utilization, innovative practices, and the significance of cooperation in attaining local, regional, and international goals. Furthermore, a separate event named “Quality of Life and its Link to Sustainable Development” featured panel discussions and expert lectures, shedding light on the Kingdom’s endeavors and global perspectives.

Khalid Al-Baker, the CEO of the program, emphasized the commitment to improving the Kingdom’s quality of life through initiatives spanning arts, culture, sports, tourism, urban development, entertainment, hobbies, security, and safety. At the forum, Al-Baker underscored the significance of collaboration and active engagement for sustainable development.

Discussions encompassed the role of data in urban planning, modern city challenges, and strategies for innovative urban interventions to enhance quality of life. Notable successes, such as expanding green spaces, improving municipal services, and supporting security operations, were also highlighted. The participants included representatives from government agencies, ministries, and specialized organizations.

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 program

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, launched in April 2016 by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aims to diversify the nation’s economy, foster social progress, and elevate various sectors. This strategic program is a response to the looming “peak oil” predicted by the International Energy Agency around 2030, which could significantly impact Saudi Arabia’s oil-dependent economy.

By reducing the country’s reliance on oil and expanding its economic base, Vision 2030 seeks to secure Saudi Arabia’s future prosperity. This initiative presents significant opportunities for companies seeking to expand into the Saudi market. The Crown Prince’s Vision 2030 aims to modernize Saudi Arabia through economic, social, and cultural reforms, including increasing women’s leadership roles and advancing the arts sector.

The Saudi government has set out three key pillars for Vision 2030: establishing a vibrant society, fostering a thriving economy, and nurturing an ambitious nation. Each pillar includes specific goals and initiatives that will work together to transform the Kingdom’s economy, society, and politics.

 A vibrant society

Vision 2030 focuses on building a strong, happy society as the foundation for economic prosperity. Focus is on embracing modern Islam, national pride, Saudi heritage, and culture, while providing world-class entertainment, sustainable living, and efficient health and social care systems.

The goal is to prioritize physical, psychological, and social wellbeing, creating a society where everyone enjoys a high quality of life and a healthy lifestyle. Through these efforts, Vision 2030 aims to create a vibrant society that serves as the foundation for a thriving economy and an ambitious nation.

Fostering a thriving economy

The aim is to create a thriving economy by leveraging the country’s unique location and potential, prioritizing young people, and improving the business environment to attract global talent and investment. The focus is on diversifying the economy, unleashing new sectors, and forming new partnerships to ensure sustainability and growth.

Nurturing an ambitious nation

The country is committed to building a transparent, accountable, and efficient government, where everyone has a role to play in shaping the future of the country. Together, the vision is to achieve the goals set out and to create a vibrant society and thriving economy as part of Vision 2030.
