In a significant development amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Saudi Arabia has announced its plan to host summits involving Arab, African, and Islamic nations in the coming days, according to Reuters.

The aim of these summits is to address the escalating crisis in the region and work towards a peaceful resolution.

The gatherings, which will take place in Riyadh, will bring together leaders from various countries, providing a platform for them to exchange views and ideas on how to address the crisis in Gaza and promote peace.

The announcement was made by Saudi Arabia’s Investment Minister, Khalid Al-Falih, during the Bloomberg New Economy Forum held in Singapore.

As the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues to intensify, with both sides experiencing significant casualties and widespread damage, the international community has been calling for an end to the violence and the pursuit of a peaceful resolution.

Saudi Arabia’s decision to host these summits is seen as an important step towards achieving this goal.

The summits are expected to facilitate diplomatic efforts and open channels for dialogue among nations to address the complex and sensitive issues surrounding the Gaza conflict. This move by Saudi Arabia comes at a crucial time, with hopes that it can contribute to de-escalation and eventually bring about a lasting peace in the region.

Saudi Arabia as a peacemaker

Saudi Arabia’s Emerging Role as a Peacemaker: Saudi Arabia is gaining prominence as a key peacemaker in the region and on the global stage, prioritizing diplomacy over the deployment of hard power.

Restoring Diplomatic Ties with Syria: Saudi Arabia has taken steps to restore diplomatic ties with war-torn Syria and has resumed its diplomatic mission in Damascus, signaling a commitment to regional stability.

Mending Fences and Easing Rivalries: The country has also been working to mend relations with Syria and Iran, soothing rivalries with Gulf neighbors, and welcoming the Biden administration’s diplomatic efforts.

Leading Peace Talks in Ukraine: Saudi Arabia is taking a leadership role in peace talks between Ukraine and Russia and is reportedly set to host a peace summit in Jeddah to address the ongoing conflict.

Global Participation: More than 30 countries, including India, Brazil, Indonesia, Egypt, Mexico, Chile, and Zambia, have been invited to participate in the peace summit, reflecting a broad international engagement.

Engagement with Russia in Ukrainian Crisis: Saudi Arabia has maintained direct contact with Moscow while actively seeking to broker an agreement for the repatriation of Ukrainian children taken to Russia during the conflict.

Efforts for Peace in Gaza: In addition to its involvement in Ukraine, Saudi Arabia is addressing the ongoing conflict in Gaza by hosting summits of Arab and Islamic nations. These summits aim to discuss the situation and work towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

Constructive Vision for Global Peace: Due to its constructive and long-term vision, Saudi Arabia is poised to play a significant role as a global peacemaker, promoting stability and diplomatic solutions on multiple fronts.
