At the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced a new program to enhance digital education in BRICS nations. The initiative plans to establish ten learning centers across member countries in the next five years and will train 1,000 local education administrators, teachers, and students.
Enhancing Digital Education Cooperation
During a round-table discussion with other BRICS leaders, Xi highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration in digital education. He said, “We will have 10 learning centers in BRICS countries over the next five years and provide training opportunities for 1,000 local education administrators, teachers, and students.”
This program aims to promote exchanges among the people of BRICS nations. Xi expressed China’s willingness to work with all member countries to create a brighter future and boost cooperation.
Focus on Innovation and Technology
Xi Jinping stressed the need for BRICS countries to embrace technological advancements and industrial change. He encouraged member nations to keep up with innovation. “China has recently launched a China BRICS Artificial Intelligence (AI) Development and Cooperation initiative, and we are ready to deepen cooperation on innovation with all BRICS countries to unlock the benefits of AI,” he stated.
He also announced plans for several initiatives, including:
- A BRICS Sea Resources International Research Centre
- A China Centre for Cooperation on Special Economic Zones
- A BRICS Industrial Competencies program
- A BRICS Digital Ecosystem Cooperation Network
Xi welcomed participation from all interested parties to enhance BRICS cooperation.
Commitment to Sustainable Development
Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of green development for BRICS nations. He said, “Green is the defining color of our times. It is essential for all BRICS countries to actively support the global trend of green and low-carbon transformation.”
He noted that China’s production capabilities in electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar products contribute significantly to global green development. Xi expressed a desire to expand cooperation with BRICS nations in green industries, clean energy, and sustainable mining.
Leading Global Governance ReformIn his closing remarks, Xi urged BRICS countries to commit to fairness and take the lead in reforming global governance. “We should build a BRICS committed to justice and act as forerunners in reforming global governance,” he concluded.
