The second day of the BRICS summit kickstarted bearing lots of hope and fruition from the previous day and anxiety of what’s to happen and which countries were to join.
The heads of states of the five BRICS countries gave their much-anticipated address on their respective country’s contributions to the bloc’s sustainable development goals and the direction they are hoping to steer the alliance to.
Amongst the topical issues addressed was challenging the current world order and reshaping it to accelerate developing nations.
President Xi Jinping stressed the importance of technological investments, PM Modi highlighted the significance of skills exchange and collaboration, and president Ramaphosa emphasized on the importance of peace and solidarity amongst the bloc and the global south countries.
President Putin and the Brazilian President Lula da Silva advocated for de-dollarization and the transition to national currencies in mutual transactions for developing nations.
The Leader’s also touched on pressing issue of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and plans to implement a ceasefire.
Amongst many that took place the countries signed MOU’s and mutually beneficial deals to foster trade investments and strengthen not only the blocs multilateral ties but also bilateral ties with other developing nations.
