The BRICS Women’s Business Alliance recently held the BRICS Gender Dividend debate in Durban Kwa-Zulu Natal.

This debate was aimed at dissecting topics around political economy of gender in a multipolar world, under the theme ‘Tomorrow’s multipolar world, through a gender lens’.

The event included thought leaders in politics and business, government officials and influential females champions.

Discourse around gender equality in politics and the corporate world has been an ongoing debate for decades. With the world shifting from a unipolar to a multipolar world, the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance (WBA) looked at ways to further empower and include women in the structures of revolutionary decision-making and sustainable development.

Amongst many key issues that were discussed in the dialogue included how BRICS leaders can advance gender equity and equality within the alliance; the reforms required for BRICS and African nations to be gender inclusive, as well as actionable resolutions that will influence and shape the eGoli BRICS Women Development Declaration.

The BRICS Women’s Business Alliance is determined in framing and advancing gender equality within the BRICS structures, which will in turn result in trade advancements, equal distribution of opportunity and economic gains.
