The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, delivered his annual State of the Nation Address to the Russian Federal Assembly.
This happens a few weeks ahead of Russia’s 2024 presidential elections, which many experts have predicted for the current president to stay in power.
President Putin presented good results on the country’s economy stating that it has increased by 19%, making Russia the 5th fastest growing economy according to global rankings.
In his address he mentioned:
The United States influence in fueling the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He said, “Russia is prepared to have talks with the relevant parties on strategic stability”.
The importance of education for the country to be at the forefront of innovation, particularly emphasizing on digitisation and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Russia’s import GDP has decreased by 1%, moving from 20% to 19% this year. President Putin presented his plans for decreasing this over the following years to 17% by increasing domestic manufacturing.
The country has implemented measures to reduce environmental damages by modernising waste disposal systems.
Taking a look at BRICS:
President Putin, emphasized on the significance of the Bloc to the global south countries, as well as the positive progress it has made.
During his annual address he said, “The purchasing power parity of BRICS will increase to 36.6% by 2028”, further strengthening the bloc.
The Russian president ended his speech with a thank you note, stating that he will continue advancing his country to improve civilians’ lives.
