In a tense and thrilling encounter at the Paris Olympic Games, the Blitzboks, South Africa’s revered rugby sevens team, was heavily defeated by France in the semifinals. The game, which kept fans on the edge of their seats, ended with France walloping the Blitzboks with a score of 19 -5.

The South African team entered the semifinals with high hopes, having shown impressive form throughout the tournament. However, the French team, spurred on by a passionate home crowd at the Stade de France, played with relentless energy and strategic precision that ultimately proved too much for the Blitzboks.

South Africa started the match strong, securing an early lead with one and only try of their match after a 0-0 stalemate at half-time. The hosts responded with determination, scoring three tries in the second half and spectacularly knocking South Africa out of the semi final.

Despite the loss, the Blitzboks remain contenders for the bronze medal, aiming to finish their Olympic journey on a high note. South Africa will play against their old nemesis – Australia later on tonight after the Ausies were obliterated by 31 -7 against the defending champions Fiji.

Fiji will go up against the host nation France later tonight in the finals. This match-up is expected to be a barnstormer of the rugby sevens championship.
