Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is set to embark on an extensive tour covering all 26 Brazilian states and the Federal District within the first six months of this year.

According to reports by Brazilian publication Prensa Latina, Da Silva’s tour aims to strengthen ties and connect with citizens nationwide.

The Brazilian President has urged ministers to intensify their efforts in major urban centres and the hinterland, emphasising a comprehensive outreach strategy.

“There will be a schedule. The aim is for the president to visit all 27 regions in the first half of next year. In the second half of the year, he will focus on other tasks,” stated Citizens’ Affairs Minister Rui Costa, shedding light on the planned itinerary.

Throughout the past year, da Silva has dedicated himself to diplomatic missions, undertaking 15 international trips that span 24 countries across four continents. His overseas commitments kept him out of the country for 62 days.

As part of Brazil’s broader agenda 2024, the country will host more than 100 working group meetings, combining virtual and in-person sessions, along with around 20 ministerial meetings.

The year will culminate in a summit of heads of government and states in Rio de Janeiro on November 18-19, 2024.

Additionally, Brazil recently handed over the interim presidency of the sub-regional South American Trade and Economic Union (MERCOSUR) to Paraguay on December 7, marking a significant development in the country’s regional diplomatic engagements.
