The BRICS Global Television Network together with Master Box promoter Anton Gilmore brings you a boxing feast never seen before in the South of Johannesburg, South Africa.
This non-stop festival of Action Boxing and Master Box will see around 40 fighters go head-to-head in the ring.
Master Box South Africa has provided the opportunity for former boxing professionals and those who just want to jump into the ring over the age of 35 – to fight again.
Professionals by day, boxers by night
Saturday the 25th of November will see the different boxers clash with the event running from 14:30 CAT until 7pm.
According to Master Box SA’s Chairperson, Stephen Castle, “ rounds will last two minutes for fighters up to 54-years-old and then 90 seconds for those older. Fights will comprise three, five or six rounds”.
One of the highlights of the afternoon will be a clash between a chef and the owner of Corner Cafe in Craighall Park,Greig Walker, who takes on Ashley ‘Padre’ Calvert.
This bout will see boxer Walker coming up against MMA fighter Calvert.
There is a trophy on the day, which is dedicated to former light-heavyweight SA boxer Lionel Hunter.
Hunter was a well-known fighter in the 1980s, having boxed against the likes of Sakkie Horn, Freddie Rafferty, Solomon Zuma and Prince Tukane.
Equally matched girls Indiya Ellis and Daniella Lloyd will be fighting for the Lionel Hunter trophy.
Lionel Hunter – a boxing trainer – passed away at the height of Covid-19 in 2020
The main event of the day is when the so-called “bad boy” of South African boxing Jared “The Storm” Lovett comes up against Johnny Anthony.
This is a huge challenge for the master boxer Johnny to fight a former professional boxer Lovett.
Interestingly, we will witness the battle of the engineers in a heavyweight bout.
Luke Sutherland will lock horns against Bevan Beckman.
This bout might end very quickly as both “giants”can hit very hard!
Before I run out of ink let me tell you about age vs experience.
