China’s Li Yuehong won gold in the men’s 25 meters rapid fire pistol event at the Paris Olympics on Monday with South Korea’s Cho Yeong-jae taking silver and China’s Wang Xinjie bronze. It was China one-two in the qualification round and the trend continued as Li and Wang started off with a perfect five-from-five in the final.

Cho managed to sandwich himself between the Chinese pair, but Li ran away with the gold, scoring 32 points for a comfortable win against the South Korean, who scored 25. It was the Veteran sharpshooter’s maiden gold medal in his third Olympic appearance. The 34-year-old world-record holder made 32 hits in the final to secure China’s fifth shooting gold in Paris Li Yuehong’s journey to Olympic gold was marked by years of hard work, dedication, and resilience.

Born on August 28, 1989, in China’s Hebei province, Li’s interest in shooting began at a young age. He started his professional career in shooting in his early twenties and quickly rose through the ranks due to his exceptional talent and focus.

Li first made a mark on the international stage at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where he won a bronze medal in the same event. This achievement set the stage for his future successes, showcasing his potential to compete against the best in the world. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Li further solidified his reputation by securing another bronze medal, demonstrating consistency and improvement in his performance.

In Paris 2024, Li faced stiff competition from the world’s top shooters. Despite the pressure, he maintained his composure and delivered a stunning performance. Li scored a total of 34 points in the final round, outshining his competitors with remarkable accuracy and speed. This victory not only brought glory to his home country but also established Li as a formidable force in the shooting community.

Li’s gold medal at the Paris Olympics is a testament to his enduring commitment to excellence. Following his initial victory, Li has continued to participate in various international competitions, maintaining a prominent position in the world rankings. As of 2024, he remains a key member of China’s national shooting team, contributing his experience and leadership to the team’s success.

In addition to his Olympic achievements, Li has also excelled in other prestigious shooting events. He has competed in numerous World Shooting Championships, often finishing in the top ranks and earning several medals. His ability to adapt and excel in different shooting environments has made him a versatile athlete and a respected figure in the sport.

His success can be attributed to his rigorous training regimen and his focus on mental strength. He spends countless hours honing his skills at the shooting range, working closely with coaches to refine his technique and improve his performance under pressure. His dedication to physical fitness and mental discipline has been a crucial factor in his ability to perform at the highest level consistently.

As he continues his career, Li Yuehong remains an inspiration to aspiring shooters in China and around the world. His achievements reflect not only his personal dedication but also the growing prominence of sport shooting as a competitive discipline. With his eyes set on future competitions, Li aims to continue his winning streak and contribute to the legacy of excellence in Chinese sport shooting.
