South African comedian Trevor Noah, and former host of The Daily Show, is basking in the glory of the show’s recent Emmy win for best variety talk series.
Noah expressed his gratitude to his dedicated team and the Television Academy for the prestigious honour.
The Daily Show’s victory marks a significant achievement, as it is the first time the show has clinched the award since the tenure of former host Jon Stewart in his final year, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
But according to the star, not everyone believed he won.
In another hilarious post, Noah shared a snapshot of the Emmy envelope, saying he was sharing photographic evidence of his because his mother, Patricia Noah, apparently didn’t believe her son bagged the award.
Noah also shared a clip of the moment The Daily Show was announced as the winner on Instagram, captioning it with enthusiasm: “So… this happened. What a night last night! Big congrats again to the entire [The Daily Show] team! Thank you [the Television Academy] for this absolute honour!”
In his social media posts, Noah extended appreciation to fellow talk show hosts who were nominated in the same category, acknowledging the camaraderie and support from the likes of Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, and his predecessor, Jon Stewart.
“Thank you for the support and camaraderie along the journey. Truly an honour to be in the same category with you,” Noah wrote in his heartfelt acknowledgments.
The Emmy win not only marks a personal triumph for Trevor Noah but also underscores the continued excellence and relevance of The Daily Show as a staple in the world of late-night television.
