South Africa’s Cameron Saaiman is bracing for a big weekend with his focus firmly set on returning to winning ways.
The “Most Savage Player” faces off against the undefeated Payton Talbott in a bantamweight battle at UFC Vegas 89 on Saturday night (Sunday morning SA time).
Talbott’s likely still in good spirits having recently won his UFC debut. Saaiman however, will have to put his first professional loss against Christian Rodriguez behind him, and keep his sights firmly on achieving victory this weekend.
Brics Global Television Network has and continues to follow Saaiman’s career. MPC is an athletic young finisher and he’s got some kickboxing experience to boot. This all shows in his ability to put together great combinations and perform at a high level.
Both Saaiman and Talbott have received praise from Dana White.
The UFC president hailed Saaiman as “the future” after he knocked Josh Wang-Kim out cold on the Contender Series back in August 2022 to become the youngest fighter ever signed by the promoter at 21 at the time.
Talbott also impressed during the contender series and White labelled him “an absolute predator” following his decision win over Reyes Cortez last August.
When Talbott was asked about his match-up with Saaiman, he said “That’s the perfect match-up, that’s the people’s fight, and I’ll take that any day.”
He added, “He’s got some good vibes and I like the way he approaches the fight game; it’s not like a lot of people,” offering his assessment of what his 23-year-old opponent brings to the table. “He represents a newer generation of fighting. I think we’re both really excited to get after each other.” Talbott said.
The MPS told the UFC news, “Both of us are expecting a three-round war. If it finishes before that, great, and I’m going to try and make it look as easy as possible.”
