On Monday, the Kremlin announced its alignment with U.S. President Joe Biden regarding the necessity of establishing a “new world order.” However, they expressed a fundamental disagreement with the notion that the United States alone possessed the capability to construct such an order.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, during a press briefing, asserted that the U.S. was advocating for an “American-centric” global order, which, in their view, would not persist in the future.

This exchange epitomized an ongoing struggle, set against the backdrop of conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, in which Russia is actively seeking to persuade emerging nations to participate in the creation of a new world order that is not dominated by U.S. influence.

In a recent speech on Friday, President Biden highlighted that the post-World War Two order, which had effectively functioned for five decades, had reached a point of diminishing efficacy and necessitated a new paradigm. He articulated that Americans possessed “an opportunity to enact significant changes, provided we display courage and self-assurance, to unite the world in unprecedented ways.”

Peskov underscored that Moscow shared an uncommon consensus with President Biden on the urgency of establishing a new order, one that would be “unburdened by the concentration of all global governance mechanisms.
