Amid mounting tensions between Israel and Iran, several major world powers have issued travel advisories to their citizens, warning of potential security risks in the region. France, India, Russia, and the United Kingdom have all urged caution and restraint, citing heightened geopolitical tensions and the risk of conflict.

France, in response to the escalating situation, has advised its citizens against travelling to Iran, Lebanon, Israel, and the Palestinian territories. Additionally, the country has announced the recall of relatives of diplomats stationed in Iran and prohibited French civil servants from conducting missions in the affected regions.

Similarly, the United Kingdom has urged its citizens to avoid all but essential travel to Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, citing the possibility of attacks originating from Iran. Russia has strongly recommended its citizens refrain from travelling to the region, specifically citing security risks in Israel, Lebanon, and the occupied Palestinian territory.

India, too, has issued travel advisories, instructing its citizens to refrain from travelling to Iran and Israel until further notice. The country has emphasised the need for utmost caution. These travel advisories come after Iran attacked Israel on Saturday. This followed a deadly attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria on April 1, which resulted in two commanders and a number of Islamic Revolutionary Guard members being killed.

Meanwhile, Germany’s flagship airline, Lufthansa, has extended its suspension of flights to and from Tehran until Thursday. In the United States, measures have also been taken to safeguard personnel in Israel, with restrictions imposed on personal travel for employees and their family members outside the greater Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Beersheba areas. As tensions continue to mount, Israeli officials have heightened their alert levels, mobilised reservists, and bolstered air defence systems in preparation for potential threats.
