Unrealistic social media beauty and wealth standard expectations are exacerbating the mental health crisis of many teenagers.
According to World Health Organisation, 1 in 7 10-19-year-olds struggle with their mental wellbeing.
However, many refuse to seek help. Adolescence is a crucial time where physical and social changes, exposure to violence and abuse, can make a child vulnerable to mental health issues.
World Teen Mental Wellness Day is on the 2nd of March and aims to raise awareness and destigmatise mental illness.
It is about finding ways to address the ever-increasing number of teens suffering with mental health issues.
With many unable to understand the challenges and adversities teenagers encounter, the stigma associated with mental illness makes it difficult for them to seek support.
This day encourages important conversations about mental well-being and raises awareness of available resources available to teenagers around the world.
