The Sports Boulevard Board of Directors led by Prince Mohammad bin Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Crown Pince and Prime Minister have approved the designs for the sport tower, a high rise building equipped with indoor courts for various sports.
The tower, standing at 130m is a key landmark of the Sports Boulevard Project and will play a pivotal role in achieving the Saudi Vision 2030 goals. It is designed to improve the quality of life in Riyadh, placing it in the top 10 economies globally.
The Global Sports Tower is set to be the tallest tower in the world. Spanning an area of 84 000 square metres, it will be home to over 30 distinct sports facilities, including the world’s tallest indoor climbing wall reaching a height of 98 metres. This project promises to redefine sports infrastructure.
The Sports Boulevard project is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at creating destinations that integrate various aspect of life. Positioned as a gateway to a futuristic urban landscape for Riyadh, it is envisioned to have a significant positive impact on Saudi Arabia’s economy and enhance its global reputation.
The project stretches 135 kilometres and connects the east to the west of Riyadh through a network of safe pathways designed for cyclists, athletes, horse riders and pedestrians. It aims to cater to climbers of all skill levels, allowing opportunities for beginners to professionals to experience and enjoy the world’s fastest growing sports.
The tower will boast the world’s highest running track which will span 250 metres, offering athletes a unique training experience while enjoying breathtaking views of Riyadh. The SBF reported that the project encompasses over 4.4 million square metres of greenery and open spaces and up to approximately 50 multidisciplinary facilities.

The project features several distinct destinations and investment zones totalling an area that exceeds 3 million square metres. This development aims to enhance Riyadh’s urban landscape and provide economic opportunities.
The Global Sports Tower stands out with its unique architectural design that adheres to the Sports Boulevard Design Code influenced by the principles of Salmani architecture. The blend of originality makes the tower a unique landmark.
In line with the objectives of the Sports Boulevard Project, the tower aims to enhance Riyadh’s quality of life by increasing sports promotion and community engagement. It offers world-class facilities that aim to cultivate a sports culture among members of society thus contributing to overall well-being, community spirit and overall health.
In May, Knight Frank, real estate consultancy stated that Riyadh and its surrounding areas hold approximately 40 percent of the total value of current construction contracts in Saudi Arabia adding up to $54 billion. Provinces of Mecca, Jeddah and Tabuk in the north of the Kingdom, have secured contracts with values of $28.7 billion and $28.5 billion. These figures are indicative of the investment and development occurring across these regions.
The Sports Boulevard project is one of Saudi Arabia’s greatest projects launched by King Salman bin Abdulaziz in 2019. Currently chaired by Prince Mohammed bin Salman, it is dedicated to improving the quality of life for residents and visitors. This is done through integrated infrastructure, horse-riding trails, cycling lanes and pedestrian pathways. The initiative aims to create a vibrant urban community that promotes health, recreation and connectivity in Riyadh.
