Saudi Arabia has seen the leaders of two nations visit over the past few days – with trade and co-operation high on the agenda.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Saudi Arabia on a three-day official visit accompanied by a delegation over the weekend.

The premier flew to Saudi Arabia via a commercial flight, where he interacted with fellow passengers who took selfies with him.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz accompanied the premier, along with members of the federal cabinet.

This comes with the news that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia has met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The meeting took place at the Al-Safa Palace in Mecca.

Reports say they discussed a range of issues including the regional situation, strengthening co-operation between the two nations, investment and trade, as well as defence and security.

Somalia’s unity and independence were also discussed.

The Saudi Kingdom reaffirmed its support for a unified and independent Federal Republic of Somalia.

The two nations have long-standing relations in areas including security, counterterrorism and development assistance for the Horn of Africa nation.

Meanwhile, this comes with the news that Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari has also said that his country attaches paramount importance to expanding economic co-operation with neighbouring and regional countries.

His country also wants to expand relations with the “Global South”.

He made the comments as he addressed ambassadors of the BRICS countries to Tehran.
