Russian President Vladimir Putin has hosted Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a visit that had a wider geopolitical context and significance. The two leaders expressed appreciation for the India-Russia friendship. Putin praised Modi for his efforts in the advancement of India’s development. Modi concluded his two-day visit in Russia and flew to Austria on Tuesday.
Upon departure, he had a conversation with the Indian community at a hotel in Moscow. He acknowledged people with a wave before boarding the plane. He praised the community for their contributions in strengthening the relations. Furthermore, he announced the upcoming opening of Indian consulates in both Kazan and Yekaterinburg. Modi was ceremoniously presented with the Order of St Andrew the Apostle the First – Russia’s highest civilian honour.
The award was conferred on Modi in 2019,but was physically received on July 9. It acknowledges his significant role in fostering a robust strategic partnership and relationship between India and Russia. Modi posted a statement on X, “Honoured to receive the The Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle. I thank the Russian Government for conferring the award. This award is dedicated to my fellow 140 crore Indians.”
The Prime Minister emphasized that the India-Russia relationship is giving new momentum to global prosperity. He expressed gratitude for the Indian community’s contribution to enhancing the bonds between the two countries. Modi also visited Austria this week. This visit holds significant historical importance as this was the first time Narendra Modi had visited Austria in 41 years.
