India’s National Security Adviser says BRICS countries must support each other in anti terrorism efforts.
National Security Advisers from all five BRICS countries met this week to discuss security concerns, and how each country can make its citizens safer.
According to India’s delegate, Ajit Doval, BRICS countries must do a better job of supporting each other in counter-terrorism efforts. His comments may have been an indirect criticism of China which is an ally of Pakistan. Doval’s Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, has been accused of obstructing counter terrorism efforts because of this relationship.
Doval stressed that terrorist activity within the BRICS bloc is being allowed to continue unchecked. He says that BRICS countries need to understand the importance of working towards a common goal.
He’s called for a BRICS-wide terrorism registry which will form part of UN Anti terrorism efforts, as all five BRICS countries operate under the UN Anti-Terrorism Mandate.
“It is important that the decision-making of the UNSC sanctions committee is free from politicization and double standards, “said Doval
