From September 8 to September 10, 2025, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, hosted the Africa Climate Summit 2025, co-convened by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the Government of Ethiopia. The summit aimed to accelerate Africa’s climate action by mobilizing investments, fostering innovation, and promoting African-led solutions to the climate crisis (wmo.int).

Germany was represented by Dr. Bärbel Kofler, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and Jochen Flasbarth, State Secretary responsible for climate action. 🌐 Key Outcomes and Initiatives
- Africa Climate Innovation Compact: A continental initiative aiming to mobilize $50 billion annually to support climate solutions across Africa, including the creation of the African Climate Facility, targeting 1,000 climate solutions by 2030 (reuters.com).
- Energy Partnerships: Germany, in collaboration with the European Union and the African Union, launched flagship programs to accelerate energy access and support Africa’s green transition (africa-eu-energy-partnership.org).
