The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour (ADGS) is set to make a significant stop in Moscow from 30 August to 1 September 2024. This prestigious event, organised by the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP), is part of a global series that showcases the best of Jiu-Jitsu talent from around the world.

Event Overview

The Moscow leg of the ADGS is expected to be a grand spectacle, attracting athletes from over 30 countries. The event will be held at the Sport Academy Dinamo, a venue known for hosting high-profile sports events. The competition is open to professional athletes holding purple, brown, and black belts, and it promises to be a thrilling display of skill and strategy.

Competition Structure

The tournament will span three days, with different categories competing each day:

Day 1 (30th of August): Amateurs

Day 2 (31st of August): Youths and Masters

Day 3 (1st September ): Professionals

Each day will feature intense matches, starting at 10:00 UTC+3, with weigh-ins scheduled for the day before and on the morning of the competition.

International Participation

The ADGS Moscow 2024 will see a diverse array of participants, reflecting the global appeal of Jiu-Jitsu. Athletes from countries such as Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Portugal, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan have already confirmed their participation. This international mix not only enhances the competitive spirit but also fosters cultural exchange and camaraderie among athletes.

Notable Competitors

Among the notable competitors are Emirati fighters like Khaled Al Shehhi, Omar Al Suwaidi, and Saeed Al Kubaisi, who will represent the UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Team. These athletes are expected to bring their A-game, showcasing the high level of Jiu-Jitsu practiced in the UAE.

Significance of the Event

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam is more than just a competition; it is a platform for athletes to learn, grow, and connect with the global Jiu-Jitsu community. As Omar Al Suwaidi, an Emirati black belt and ADXC champion, stated, “It is a platform to learn from the best players and coaches. It’ll allow me to interact with competition at the highest level while also letting me build valuable relations with the global Jiu-Jitsu community, helping enhance my skills and develop my career”.

The ADGS Moscow 2024 promises to be an exciting event, bringing together top-tier Jiu-Jitsu talent from around the world. With its diverse lineup of competitors and the high stakes of the tournament, it is set to be a highlight in the global Jiu-Jitsu calendar. Fans and participants alike can look forward to a weekend of exceptional martial arts action and cultural exchange.
