Amazon.com is set to invest $5.3 billion dollars in Saudi Arabia, launching new data centres in 2026.
This will be through its cloud division, Amazon Web Services.
Customers will be offered access to secure their information – at a higher speed.
Amazon has been expanding its operations globally, including projects in Saudi Arabia and South Africa.
Artificial Intelligence is also at the forefront of technology and Amazon will be developing various projects in Saudi.
This comes as competition increases between the giant and competitors Alphabet (Google) and Microsoft.
All are set to raise their investments in projects around the world.
Some major companies that are set to benefit from AWS is the Saudi Telecom Company, Seera Holdings and Mobily.
Reuters is reporting that Apple and Amazon are also jointly in discussions with Riyadh on investing in Saudi Arabia.
Last month, the head of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) sovereign wealth fund pitched the Kingdom as a prospective hub for AI activity outside the United States, citing its energy resources and funding capacity.
