Five UK ministers are leading a large British delegation to Saudi Arabia to strengthen trade and cultural ties. The delegation, including 450 business and cultural leaders, are attending an event called Great Futures in Riyadh to highlight cooperation and partnerships. The goal is to showcase British skills and capabilities in sectors that can support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The UK and Saudi Arabia will establish an education task force to further cooperation in higher education, with 40 higher educational partnerships already signed.
The University of Strathclyde in Glasgow will become the first UK university to establish a physical presence in Saudi Arabia. The delegation’s key goal is an expanded British role in projects under the Vision 2030 banner. Saudi Arabia is promoting five lead “giga projects” expected to attract $3 trillion of investment over the next six years. The event aims to secure more investment across sectors, from financial services to higher education. Additionally, the UK will sign an updated agreement with Saudi Arabia renewing a joint commitment to further investment.
