The event will bring together African governments, policymakers, regional economic communities, civil society, farmers’ groups, private sector actors and development partners to:

  • Address Africa’s food and nutrition security challenges in line with Agenda 2063 and the SDGs.
  • Strengthen nutrition-sensitive agricultural systems and value-chain development.
  • Enhance resilience of food systems in the face of climate change and global supply chain disruptions.

Why This Event Matters

The commemoration of ADFNS is an annual continental platform to reaffirm Africa’s dedication to ending hunger and malnutrition. Held together with the CAADP Partnership Platform, it provides a high-level forum for tracking progress, mobilizing resources, and aligning national and regional policies with continental goals.

Kigali is set to become a hub for renewed commitments, where leaders will review achievements, identify gaps, and launch initiatives to accelerate progress toward Zero Hunger and improved nutrition outcomes across the continent.

Expected Highlights

  • High-level participation from AU leadership, African Heads of State, and global development partners.
  • Announcements of new initiatives and financing tools to strengthen food and nutrition security.
  • Policy dialogues aimed at improving national agriculture investment plans.
  • A communiqué or outcome statement that will shape Africa’s agricultural and nutrition agenda for the coming years.
