Bayana Bayana is through to the knockout stages after a shocking win against Italy in Wellington, New Zealand, on Wednesday morning.
The lowest-ranked team in the group just defied all odds and delivered the least expected outcome from the current African Cup of Nations Champions.

The team couldn’t believe their luck when Italy’s Benedetta Orsi scored an own goal in the 32nd minute of the game.

Italy opened their account via a penalty in the 11th minute, and Banyana took a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute via Hildah Magaia.

The ever-so-reliable Thembi Kgatlana wrapped it up for Banyana Banyana at the game’s death.

The ladies in yellow are now through to the knockout stages of the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup.
