The Shanghai municipal government has published its official events calendar for the first quarter of 2026, highlighting a dynamic series of world-class sports fixtures following the New Year period .

The “Sports events in first quarter 2026” guide, released on 21 January 2026 by the city’s International Services portal, confirms that the region’s sporting season is in full swing . The calendar is designed to showcase the city’s position as a premier host for international competitions and top-tier domestic events throughout the winter and spring .

No specific events are detailed in the initial announcement, indicating that the schedule is a forward-looking framework for the quarter. The launch of the official guide marks the start of the city’s organized athletic programming for the year .
