The Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit, hosted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has denounced the brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
Arabic leaders merged the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Arab League summits, emphasising solidarity in condemning the humanitarian catastrophe.
Saudi Press Agency reports that leaders from OIC and the Arab League united against Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, condemning the brutality and advocating for immediate cessation.
The language from Arab leaders differed significantly from that coming from the West. Canadian President Justin Trudeau and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunnak were criticised for calling for a ‘humanitarian pause.’ Both leaders stopped short of calling for an immediate ceasefire.
Immediate Actions
Arab leaders called on the UN Security Council to take decisive action against Israel’s aggressive practices and emphasised the need to hold the country accountable for war crimes.
Leaders tasked the Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister and counterparts from various countries to initiate international action on behalf of OIC and Arab League member states, emphasising a halt to the war and a genuine political process for peace.
They condemned the double standards in applying international law and warned of its impact on the credibility of countries shielding Israel from accountability.
“We condemn the double standards in applying international law… exposing the selectivity in applying the system of humanitarian values, and emphasise that the positions of Arab and Islamic countries will be affected by such double standards that lead to a rift between civilisations and cultures.”

They also backed calls to break the Gaza siege and facilitated the flow of humanitarian aid while supporting Egypt’s efforts and international involvement in reconstruction.
Leaders emphasised the need for credible media monitoring and diplomatic pressure in documenting Israeli crimes and diplomatic, political, and legal pressures to stop the ongoing atrocities.
Summit delegates also want the international community to reject any proposals that perpetuate the separation of Gaza from the West Bank, including East Jerusalem,
Delegates emphasised that any future approach to Gaza must be within the framework of working towards a comprehensive solution ensuring the unity of the area and the West Bank as part of the Palestinian state.
