Egyptian-born comedian Bassem Youssef is making waves on social media after holding his own against veteran British broadcaster Piers Morgan.
On Tuesday night, Morgan hosted a panel discussion with Youssef on the unfolding war in Gaza on his show, Piers Morgan Uncensored.
Netizens are in awe of Youseff, who is dubbed Egypt’s Jon Stewart (former Daily Show host). Youseff made a name for himself on his trademark dark humour, often used in satirical and comedy shows.
By Thursday, snippets of the interview were posted across all social media platforms. On TikTok, the videos were viewed worldwide over 2.8 million times under #bassamyouseff.
Youseff artfully weaved his signature macabre humour into what should have been an otherwise tense interview with Morgan, while hitting the usually smug presenter with gobsmacking commentary on the ongoing military operations.
Here are some of Youseff’s best answers from the interview

Youseff brazenly referenced his Palestinian wife and Gazan in-laws when asked to give his opinion on the brutal Hamas terror attacks just minutes into his interview, saying Palestinians are difficult to kill.
“Believe me, I tried, my wife is Palestinian and every time I try to kill her she uses our kids as human shields.”

‘Inlaws house was bombed in time for Halloween’
Just as his interview was coming to an end, Youssef referenced his in-law’s home, which was bombed in the air raids. “By the way, my wife’s family are fine; they sent us this; their house was bombed. It’s beautiful, will make a nice Halloween theme.

Israel is Homelander, not Superman
In one stunning display where dark humour meets real-life events, Youseff peeled back the layers of the United States’ investment in Israel.
He drew a comparison to Amazon’s hit television series The Boys. “The Boys” is a popular television show based on a comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. It offers a dark and satirical take on the superhero genre, portraying a world where corporate-sponsored superheroes abuse their powers and fame.

Youseff on Ben Shapiro
At some point in the 40-minute interview, Youseff was asked to respond to American lawyer, columnist, author, and conservative political commentator, Ben Shapiro, who appeared on Uncensored before Youseff. Here’s what he said.
