Yadlin pointed to three areas of failure in anticipating Saturday’s attack.
A failure of intelligence
Weak links in the Israeli intelligence network prevented the country from being being able to anticipate Hamas’ plans. many experts have echoed this sentiment, saying Israeli Intelligence officials should have seen the attack coming.
A failure of operations
Officials expected Israel’s external defense systems to be strong enough to keep Hamas out, but Yadlin says they turned out to be wrong.
