Brics Global Television Network presented its first-ever slap fighting event at the Butchers Backyard in Benoni, South Africa.
6 April 2024 saw history being made by BGTN with slap fighting carried live on all the social media platforms.
And as one may expect in any slap fighting event, there were knock-outs!
BGTN CEO Trevor Bester was excited about the turnout at the inaugural slap fighting event east of Johannesburg.
“This is the start of big things to come – with our next event planned for June. Slap fighting is like no other sport and is set to take the country by storm”.
Some people believe that rain is a sign of a blessing and if this is true, the evening was definitely blessed.
The day started with sunshine, but the skies soon turned dark and the heavens opened.
But come rain or shine, the event went ahead.
Slap fighting is not for the faint-hearted and some participants pulled out at the last minute.
But there were six bouts – and it was fireworks!
Things started slowly with the first fight decided by the referee, but then things heated up.
“Pastor Pitbull” Nkosinathi made his debut against Gary “The Cracker” Burrow.
“Pastor Pitbull” lost the toss and received a slap first.
“The Cracker” gave what is arguably the slap of the night – a knockout!
The slap was heard across the Butchers Backyard and it was lights out for “Pastor Pitbull”.
It was then the turn of Dorian Jooste – known as The Demolisher – against Barry Bossoter Green.
Jooste won the toss and slapped first.
Not too many expected the 23-year-old upstart Jooste to win against Green.
But on the night, anything could happen – and it did.
For the first time in his career Green was knocked out.
“The Demolisher” delivered a slap that could have been heard outside the Butchers Backyard.
The atmosphere was electric and the crowd was thoroughly entertained.
Even BGTN’s Nathan Coombs decided to see what the fuss was about and climbed onto the stage to receive a slap.

With determination on his face, he survived the slap from one of the participants.
Event promoter Bobby “The Punisher” Krisch was cautious in planning the event and a little nervous on the evening.
But the event was a major success and Kirsch was happy.
“Thanks to all our sponsors and Brics Global Television Network for making this happen”, said Kirsch.
There was consensus that slap fighting is set to be big in South Africa and other countries.
As the saying goes: “mintirho ya vulavula” or your work speaks for itself.
So bring it ! Let’s work. Let’s slap fight!
