Independence Day has been observed annually since 1948, following India’s declaration of independence on August 15, 1947. The main Independence Day celebrations will be held at the Red Fort in Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the national flag at 7:30 AM and deliver his 11th consecutive speech.
