NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) is set to train an Indian astronaut for a mission to the International Space Station (ISS) by the end of 2024. This significant initiative is part of an ongoing collaboration between NASA and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Under this collaborative effort, NASA will provide specialized training to an astronaut selected by ISRO from a pool of four individuals who have completed fundamental space astronaut training.

These candidates were groomed in preparation for India’s ambitious Gaganyaan mission
