An International Forum on Propaganda of Hatred and Violence in Media set to take place next Sunday in Jeddah. Delegates want to tackle anti-Muslim propaganda, especially as the war in Gaza rages on.

The event is co-organised by the Assistant Secretariat for Corporate Communication in the Muslim World League and the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA).

Several high-profile delegates are expected to attend the forum, including major Islamic and international news agencies, prominent religious, intellectual, legal, and human rights figures, and leaders of international organisations.

Muslim show of solidarity

The forum’s agenda is slated to cover a range of critical topics, honing in on themes pertinent to current issues, with a special focus on “Bias and Misrepresentation in International Media: The Palestinian Issue as a Model.”

The overarching objective is to pinpoint the shortcomings in the media treatment of international issues, particularly those intertwined with religious matters.

The conference is also expected to shed light on the adverse impact of incitement and bias in media discourse on human societies.

The forum aims to take a proactive stance by formulating a joint international alliance against the perils of misrepresentation, bias, and the dissemination of hatred in media discourse.

The event will likely drum up significant media support, particularly in the Arab and Islamic nations.

The gathering is being heralded as the most prominent solidarity initiative addressing urgent international bias, marked by the joint participation of the media arms of two international Islamic organisations.

One focuses on the Islamic peoples, their scholars, intellectuals, and youth, while the other centres on Islamic countries within their political framework.
