Following the global success of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ in Australia and Aotearoa, New Zealand, the world’s eyes will once again turn to Brazil as it hosts the Women’s World Cup in 2027. Brazil men’s national team were the host of the 20th FIFA World Cup in 2014 which took place in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July 2014, after the country was awarded the hosting rights in 2007.

It was the second time that Brazil staged the competition, the first being in 1950, and the fifth time that it was held in South America. Brazilian Football Confederation president Ednaldo Rodrigues invited everyone to visit Brazil. “We knew we would be celebrating a victory for South American women’s football and women. You can be sure, without vanity, we will have the best Women’s World Cup ever,” said Rodrigues.

Brazil’s history with football is legendary, with its men’s teams renowned globally. However, the story of Brazilian women’s football is one of resilience and rising prominence. The Women’s World Cup in 2027 presents an opportunity to showcase the talents of female footballers who have often been overshadowed but are no less skilled or passionate about the beautiful game. The women’s national team has never won a world cup since its inception 33 years ago.

But one cannot talk about Brazilian women’s football without mentioning icons like Marta Vieira da Silva, often regarded as one of the greatest female footballers of all time. Her career has been a beacon of hope and inspiration for many young girls aspiring to play football. Hosting the Women’s World Cup will honour her legacy and pave the way for future stars to shine on the global stage.

The preparations for the 2027 Women’s World Cup are well underway, with a strong emphasis on promoting and celebrating women’s football. Stadiums across Brazil are being upgraded, and new facilities are being built to provide state-of-the-art venues for the matches. Cities like Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Salvador are expected to host games.

As the world anticipates the 2027 Women’s World Cup, Brazil stands ready to deliver an unforgettable experience. The tournament will not only highlight the skills and talents of female footballers but also celebrate the spirit of resilience and determination that defines women’s football. It is an opportunity for Brazil to shine on the global stage, showcasing its passion for football and its commitment to advancing women’s sports.
